Common Dosage Forms: Veterinary: A topical cream for horses is available but should not be
used in the eye.
Diclofenac is used to treat inflammation of the eye (eg, aft er cataract surgery). It works by inhibiting substances called prostaglandins that cause inflammation. The FDA has approved this drug for use in humans and animals. You and your veterinarian can discuss why this drug is the most appropriate choice.
Side effects that usually are not serious include: Mild burning, stinging, irritation, or redness of the eyes. Humans report headaches and the feeling that something is in the eye while taking this drug. If any of these signs are severe, worsen, or continue to be a problem, contact your veterinarian.
